Murray brilliantly trolls Federer by cheekily saying there is a better sports star from Basel… and he plays for Arsenal

ANDY MURRAY has trolled tennis legend Roger Federer by saying the top Basel-born sports star plays for Arsenal.
Federer, 41, retired from professional tennis last month, his last match coming in the Laver Cup and teaming with longtime rival Rafael Nadal against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock.

Unfortunately, the Swiss star lost in a final tie-breaker along with his pal.
Nonetheless, Federer retired as one of tennis’ greats, winning 20 Grand Slams in his long career.
But old rival Murray duped Ferderer by saying there was a better sporting ace from Basel who happened to live and practice his trade in north London.
Scot Murray is of course referring to Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka, whose zero-to-hero history has been for some time.
Speaking to the Aargauer Zeitung, Andy Murray said: “I wrote to Roger [Federer], when I landed in Basel and I said: “I just landed in the city of one of the greatest athletes in the world: Granit Xhaka. I know Granit Xhaka is from here.”
“I’m a big Arsenal fan. Xhaka is playing really, really well this season.
“He scored another wonderful goal on Sunday.”
The Gunners midfielder has scored four goals and three assists in all competitions and helped his side lead the Premier League.

Although Xhaka was famously defrocked in 2019 and at odds with the fans, he still remains one of the key leaders in Arsenal’s dressing room, even wearing the armband in the absence of club captain Martin Odegaard.
Xhaka wearing the armband was once considered unthinkable, but fans are now signing his name week in and week out.
