MANY deaths have been reported after a bus carrying a university golf team crashed into a truck on the highway.
The horrific smash happened on Highway 115 in Midland, Texasjust after 8pm local time on Tuesday.
Southwest University confirms a fatal bus accident involving the school’s boys and girls golf teams.
It is reported that a bus crashed into a Ford F-150 in Andrews County.
The teams were on their way back from a golf tournament in West Texas and there were fatalities in both vehicles.
At least one death has been confirmed. To date, the victim has not been identified.
Sgt. Steve Blanco, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, told NBC: “It was a very tragic scene.”
He said both vehicles were “severely damaged”.
University principal Quint Thurman said: “We are still learning the details of the crash but we are heartbroken and deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life of our students and coaches. their members.”
Thurman identifies the coach as Tyler James.
He said two students were taken to a hospital in Lubbock.
It is unknown how many people were inside the bus in total.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
