SAN CARLOS PARK

A Fort Myers motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a truck in San Carlos Park Tuesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 22-year-old motorcyclist was traveling east on Alico Road at about 7:45 p.m., approaching Phlox Drive at high speed. A truck driven by a 62-year-old Fort Myers man was traveling west on Alico Road, in a left turn lane. The truck attempted to turn left onto Phlox Drive in front of the oncoming motorcycle, then collided with the truck.

The collision sent the 22-year-old man off the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accidents are still under investigation.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of people involved in traffic accidents under the Marsy Law.
