Mother, 24, found in bathtub and daughter, 4, knocked unconscious 12 hours after 911 call

A mother was found dead in a bathtub and her four-year-old daughter was knocked unconscious – 12 hours after the 911 call was made.

Mackenzie Hopkins, 24, was found submerged in the bathtub at her home in Kansas City, Missouri, with traumatic injuries to her face and head.

Hopkins’ daughter, whose name is not known, is today fighting for her life after being found last Saturday in her own bed with severe head injuries.

According to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, the mother’s father found her muddy body after asking for a welfare check.

Detectives later found that Hopkins called 911 around 6 a.m. that morning, about 12 hours before police stormed the home and found the gruesome scene.
