The Montgomery County Council’s Well being and Human Providers Committee will take up a supplemental appropriation on Monday of $300,000 to go towards a partnership that gives housing and job assist for individuals who’ve escaped pressured labor or intercourse trafficking.

The College of Maryland’s Assist, Advocacy, Freedom and Empowerment Middle for Human Trafficking Survivors (SAFE Middle) will make a presentation through the work season. Underneath the proposal, the complement will fund a partnership with the SAFE Middle and the county to supply rehousing help for victims within the Continuum of Care program.

The complement would assist cowl housing help for as much as one 12 months and providers for 2 years. Among the many providers included are serving to with creating resumes, mock interviews, GED preparation and entry to job festivals.

Since 2016, the College of Maryland’s SAFE Middle has helped greater than 240 human trafficking survivors. Within the appropriation into account, 9 people and 6 households may gain advantage from the housing program.
