MONKEYS were let loose in Pennsylvania on Friday after a truck carrying 100 primates crashed en route to the lab.
The crash happened on Interstate 80 in Montour County shortly after 4 p.m.
Another report said that the soldiers said four of the monkeys were free, according to WNEP.
Police said the truck was carrying the monkey on its lap when the collision occurred.
A search is underway along the side of the road and in nearby wooded areas.
State Police and the PA State Gaming Commission are conducting an active search.
A helicopter has been used to help search for missing primates.
Anyone who comes across one of the monkeys is advised to contact state police at 570-524-2662, Pelachick said.
At this time, it is not known whether people or animals were injured in the accident.
Following the crash, portions of 54th Street heading west were closed, according to PennDOT.
Route 54 was then opened at 18:45.
