Moneyball genius Billy Beane and private equity firm RedBird are considering an offer to buy the club from Abramovich

Moneyball genius Billy Beane is part of a company eyeing a bid to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.
The 59-year-old American made his name as a baseball player before turning to business, where he applied his famous “moneyball” approach as general manager of the Major League Baseball (MLB) A’s.

He is now an officer on the Oakland A.
And according to Sport Pro Media, he has teamed up with US investment firm RedBird Capital Partners, led by Gerry Cardinale, to form RedBall Acquisition Corp.
The company is considered to be the first special purpose vehicle dedicated to sports.
If they successfully acquire the club from Abramovich, their vision is to create a business “that will complement the expertise of the management team and benefit from their strategic and practical operational leadership”.
Abramovich has put Chelsea on the market for £3billion after 19 years owning the club.
