Opening presents on Christmas morning is an important part of the festive fun, but it can literally be a pain to wrap it all up.

To avoid the backaches that come with hours of sitting on the floor carefully wrapping dozens of gifts, these savvy moms use their irons instead – and everyone thinks it’s genius.

Nicola Lewis, the face behind The Girl Can Organization, shared the hack on her social pages, including Instagram and Facebook, said she first saw it done on Gogglebox.

On the show, sisters Ellie and Izzie demonstrate the trick and reveal it’s the best and easiest way to wrap presents.

Nicola shared a moment she did like when she was sitting on the sofa with the iron placed in front of her.

This allows her to sit comfortably on the sofa and watch her phone as she does it – and everyone is instantly on board.

She wrote: “I saw this hack on gogglebox and it totally blew me away! @Ellie__warner showed us her ingenious wrapping skills using an iron while sitting on the sofa. What a genius idea!! No more tension or back pain while wrapping presents.”

And joked: “The only stretch I need to worry about is reaching for the margarita.”

But she’s not the only one intrigued by the clever hack, as another mother called it a “god deposit”.

Share ideas on Facebook, she said: “I thought I would share my way to avoid sitting on the floor with back pain, foot pain and pins and needles while wrapping presents…”

She has also placed the iron in the living room, lowered to the perfect height, allowing her to sit and watch a Christmas movie as she wraps presents for her children.

The mother added that she doesn’t have a large enough dining table to sit on and that she often sits on the floor causing her back and hips to hurt.

Thousands of parents commented on the post praising the clever idea and “genius” – though it was too late for many to admit that they had already wrapped the presents.

“Wish I thought of that or saw this before I did all my packages,” one person said.

And another added: “Never thought to do this, you just saved my back, I’ll do this tonight!!! Merry Xmas”

One woman even called it a “game changer,” while another said, “I did this yesterday, the fastest and best gift wrapping ever. And no back pain behind genius.”

Many people joke that it is a good reason to “dust the iron” and use it.

While others say you can even enjoy a drink or two without worrying about spills.

Quick share about her Instagram, the cleaning lady stood on her ironing board wrapped in chunky wrappings of ribbon, paper, and tape.

She writes: “When I have quite a lot to wrap, I like to make my own sheet with my iron.

“The iron makes a great table in no time and will keep you at a good height to save your back.”
