Moment startled Household Cavalry horses through rush hour traffic in central London

Household Cavalry SPOOKED horses eloped yesterday, stopping morning rush hour traffic.

A trio of black Chargers sped past five-star hotels and a McLaren supercar showroom.

A source said the horses – who had performed immaculately at the Queen’s funeral processions – were terrified of a bus braking in the rain.

Mounted troops of the elite Household Cavalry lost control of the animals, which then charged out of London’s Hyde Park towards Buckingham Palace.

Then they made a sudden U-turn in front of the £1,500 Mandarin Oriental.

A witness said: “It was crazy. Suddenly these riderless horses galloped down a busy road.

“I saw a soldier heading towards the hotel, but the horses were long gone by then.”

The horses had no saddles as they were led by soldiers on three other mounts.

A joker said they “had a mare”.

The Army said there were no injuries and the mounts returned to Hyde Park Barracks.
