The Chelsea fan was knocked unconscious by a punch from a West Ham supporter.

A video has since surfaced showing the blues fan shed light on his situation.

In the hospital he said: “You have to laugh”.

People crowded around as the altercation unfolded over the weekend.

Footage shared on social media showed the Chelsea fan stepping forward to engage in a verbal confrontation with the rivals.

He is then recorded screaming and confronting an elderly West Ham supporter.

A West Ham boy is then seen throwing a punch that brutally knocks him down.

A group of Hammers chanted “Irons, Irons” as the boy was placed in the recovery position.

Police confirmed a 22-year-old man was arrested after the brutal beating.

Another viral video shows the fan who punched the Chelsea supporter being taken away by several police officers.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “A 22-year-old man was arrested before kick-off at the London Stadium today following an alleged assault on another man.

“The man was taken into custody.”

Chelsea star Reece James mentioned the attack on Instagram after the game.

In his story, he wrote: “The news caught my attention that a fan was punched and knocked unconscious before today’s game.

“I totally understand rivalry and the tensions between teams in big games, but violence is not an answer.

“I hope he’s doing well. As always, appreciate the traveling fans. Stay with us and stay safe. See you in Dortmund.”
