WHEN your kids are your roommates, it can be difficult to get a sense of privacy.
Businesswoman Breanna Trenay took matters into her own hands when she created a solution to ensure her kids’ pesky paws stayed off their stuff, even though the internet wasn’t taking it well.
Their quick and easy fix was demonstrated in a social media video.
After removing the original default lock from her bedroom door, she replaced it with a lock she spotted on TikTok.
Similar to certain smartphones on the market, the Foxgard lock allows users a bit of personalization by offering a fingerprint feature required for access.
And in Trenay’s case, it made sure she was the only one with access to her bedroom and kept her kids at bay.
Parents on TikTok were less than enthusiastic about Trenay’s method.
“It’s not that deep,” said one unimpressed user.
“That’s cool and all, but what if there’s an emergency and they can’t reach you,” offered one concerned person.
“What’s wrong with them in your room?” someone requested.
A more sarcastic user asked, “Is something wrong with your lock on the old door handle?”
In a separate video, Trenay took to her TikTok to respond to the following comment: “It’s not that deep.”
“It’s not even about the kids. It’s literally about everyone.
“People in the comments say I’m about to buy this because I want to keep my sister out of my room. She takes my clothes.”
Trenay also responded to the following comment: “That’s cool and all, but what if there’s an emergency and they can’t reach you.”
In another video, she explained, “Why would my door be locked when I’m here to stop them from doing anything?”
Addressing those who have insisted this is to keep her kids away from her room while she’s home, Trenay emphasized on her TikTok, “I’ve never said I want to keep my kids away when I’m home. This is literally for NOT domestic purposes.
“I don’t sit in my room all day with my door closed. She is open.”
