The family say five-year-old Annabelle was being cared for by Cheri Lynn Marler, 51, when police received a report of an unresponsive child on November 25.
Police found the girl in the living room with injuries that did not match her caretaker’s story, Kemmerer, Wyoming police said.
Annabelle died in hospital a day later.
On Monday, her mother took to Facebook to share her despair and anger at her daughter’s death.

“What the fuck was your fucking reason for killing our most precious, sweetest baby princess,” Kartchner said in her post.
“I hope you get what you deserve in prison.”
Kartchner continued, “She died in my arms at the children’s elementary school hospital and you lied about her falling down the stairs…”
She then explained that she should “do whatever you did to mine and my boyfriend’s daughter and see if you survive in the end if you do it because Annabelle certainly didn’t.”
“Her injuries were so severe that the elementary school hospital could not save her. I hope you are happy and can live with all of this.”
She said in a Saturday post, “My boyfriend and I are so broken right now, this is the worst day of our lives.”
A GoFundMe was started for the little girl’s funeral.
“Annabelle lost her life at the abusive hands of her babysitter when she was just 5 years old,” reads the description.
“Her mom was at work when she got this devastating call.”
Authorities have not yet released any information about the cause of the child’s death.
Cops said in a press release: “At approximately 3:38 p.m. on November 25, 2022, officers from the Kemmerer Police Department responded to a call from an unresponsive five-year-old female child at an apartment in Kemmerer.
“On arrival at the residence, Sargeant Jake Walker found the child lying unresponsive on the living room couch.
“The child’s injuries did not appear to match the story told to officers at the scene, leading to a criminal investigation.”
First responders tried to save the child and took him to a children’s hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next morning, Kemmerer police said.
Marler was arrested on first-degree murder and aggravated child molestation charges.

Police have yet to confirm her relationship with the victim and said the investigation is ongoing.
Marler is being held without bail and her next court date is set for December 2, SVINews reported.
