ST. LOUIS – MoDOT is planning to close some bridge work starting Monday after 9am. This will allow crews to prepare for the upcoming demolition of the Broadway Bridge over I-44.
Crews will close I-70 freeway lanes from Union to Broadway and will close all southbound lanes of Broadway between Cass and the ramp from I-44 beginning Monday, 7 February, after 9am
This will allow them to prepare the interstate bridge for demolition by the end of next week, weather permitting.
Expressway lanes will remain closed through the end of February, while Broadway southbound lanes on I-44 will remain closed through spring 2023. Drivers will be able to use Cass and Tucker to go around the closed bridge.
At this time, all lanes of I-44, including the I-70 expressway lanes, will be closed at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 11, weather permitting, to remove the bridge. Drivers on I-44 heading northbound can use Lumiere Place, North Broadway, and Market Street to enter I-70 west.
Westbound, southbound I-44 drivers will use Tucker Avenue through downtown to Lafayette, where they can enter I-55 southbound and I-44 heading south West.
This total closure will end by 5 a.m. on Monday, February 14.
