MMA star Anthony Pettis loses PFL semifinals to Scotland’s Stevie Ray in dramatic $1 million winner-takes-all final bout

ANTHONY PETTIS was beaten again by Scotland’s Stevie Ray – just one win away from winning $1 million.

Ray faced ex-UFC champion Pettis in New York just six months after beating the American in Atlanta.

And his rematch victory propels the lightweight into the Professional Fighters League finals in November.

The PFL is the only league format of MMA that consists of a two-fight regular season where points are earned per winning method.

Then the top four in each weight advance to the knockout stage, which is a semi-final and a final.

Ray lost his regular season opener but beat Pettis in his second fight by submission in the second round, earning him five points.

That was enough to qualify him for the last four where he faced Pettis.

And Ray doubled over the MMA veteran, winning a unanimous decision.

Canada’s Olivier Aubin-Mercier is now awaiting in the finals for the $1 million cash prize and championship belt.
