Missing teenager Connerjack Oswalt, who disappeared three years ago, is found shaking outside a gas station 700 miles away

AFTER three years of searching, a missing teenager has been found 700 miles from where he disappeared in California.

Sheriff Justin Martinez said Oswalt, now 19, was shaking in the cold outside a Summit County gas station convenience store when deputies found him.

In the weeks leading up to law enforcement’s intervention on April 9, the sheriff’s office in a Facebook post that they had received and responded to numerous reports of a homeless man in the area pushing a shopping cart.

Upon arriving at the gas station in the greater Park City area, deputies offered the man a seat in one of the officer’s squad cars where he could warm up while they investigated the man’s identity.

“Through previous interactions and Saturday’s interaction, it was clear to the deputies that the man communicated differently,” the sheriff’s office said in the Post, including one autism awareness Hashtag.

Officers eventually persuaded Oswalt to let them have his fingerprint taken, which led to them discovering that he had a previous arrest warrant.

A dispatcher then combed through the pages of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website, where they found a missing poster for Oswalt, put out by his distraught parents.

That National System for Missing and Unidentified Persons says Oswalt was diagnosed with autism in 2014 and that he had a “history of running away.”

The teen went missing in September 2019 from Clearlake, California, which is about an 11-hour drive from Summit County.

When deputies contacted Oswalt’s mother, she was able to confirm his identity through a birthmark on his neck.

Oswalt’s stepfather, Gerald Flint, and his grandfather drove the four hours from their current home in Idaho Falls to Park City to personally identify him and be reunited.

“Everyone in the room was in tears. They did everything and worked long hours,” Flint said KCRA.

“They could have dismissed it but they didn’t and that made all the difference in the world.”

After identifying Oswalt from his mug shot, Flint called the mother to break him the emotional news.

In a video obtained from CNNOswalt’s mother can reportedly be heard emotionally receiving the news of her son’s return.

“My darling is alive,” says Suzanne Flint, Oswalt’s mother, as she sobs.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the room,” says Martinez CBS. “They got back together with this individual they didn’t see for three years when he was 16. He’s 19 now.”

Oswalt’s family expects his return home soon as he was still receiving care and resources in Utah as of Saturday night.

Although Summit County officials reported that the boy appeared to have been living on the streets there for about two weeks, his whereabouts for the past two years have remained unclear.
