Her baby was found at a different location the day before, Benton County Sheriff Shawn Holloway said.

In an emotional news conference Thursday, Benton County Attorney Nathan Smith revealed that 33-year-old Bush died from an apparent gunshot wound.

At the time of her death, she was 31 weeks pregnant.

Suspects Amber Waterman and Jamie Waterman are being held at the McDonald County Jail in connection with their mother’s disappearance.

The couple, who are husband and wife, face federal kidnapping charges, but Smith said other charges could be added.

“This is one of the most horrifying cases I’ve been personally involved in,” Holloway said.

Police are investigating how Bush, who was from Arkansas, and Amber Waterman met online.

Bush’s fiancé Josh Willis said the mother-to-be was last seen on October 31 driving her to meet with a woman who was said to be helping her find a job.

The woman, who goes by the name “Lucy,” claimed to be taking Bush to an interview, Willis said.

When Willis picked up Bush, he said he saw “Lucy” and Bush drive past the gas station.

“I yelled at her because her windows were cracked, so I know she heard me,” he said.

“This ‘Lucy’ lady looks over at me, looks straight ahead at the windshield and drives off.”

Willis said he tried to chase her but couldn’t keep up.

Bush’s family was able to ping and locate their phone in a ditch about half a mile from where Willis said he last saw them.

The phone contained messages between Bush and “Lucy,” who authorities believe was Amber Waterman using a fake name.

Arkansas authorities are working with Missouri authorities to review laws governing jurisdiction over the case.

Willis said he was devastated by the news but was trying to stay strong for her children.

Bush leaves behind their three children, aged 8, 7 and 2.

“She’s the best mother a child could ask for,” Willis said.

“This is just a reminder that there is evil in the world,” Smith said.

“People do bad things. And that someone would take advantage of a pregnant woman in her most vulnerable state is unimaginable, but unfortunately that’s the world we live in.”

The investigations are still ongoing.
