‘Minshew Mania’ is a lot like the holiday season

“Minshew Mania” kicked off in Philadelphia on Saturday night when veteran Eagles reporter Derek Gunn released a tweet saying the team would put Jalen Hurts out of action and Gardner Minshew would start the game against the Jets.

Minshew played his part in adding to the occult, completing 20 of 25 attempts in 242 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Jets, added Minshew Mania.

But let’s all remember we’ve seen this before.

Jalen Hurts was the focal point of town after his first-week performance against the Falcons, where he completed 27 of 35 passes in 264 yards and three touchdowns, adding seven more in 62 yards. Eagles match 32-6, week 1 won in Atlanta.

Opponents say it’s just Atlanta.

Well, let’s get some perspective on Minshew Mania – his performance was good, but it was just the jet, who fell 3-9 after Sunday’s loss.

It seems like we can quickly change our perspective on things when we’re pulling one guy over another.

Minshew played a pretty good game, I don’t take anything away from him, but his touchdown pass into Dallas Goedert was severely underrated.

You’ll see in the video below, Goedert had to stop to catch the ball, luckily no Jet defender was in the area to stop him, resulting in an Eagles touchdown.

If that pitch was taken by the short Hurts, opponents would be quick to point it out.

Again, I’m not here to tear Minshew apart, but just to put things into a proper perspective, which can go missing many times in this town. Minshew did a great job of getting Goedert involved in the foul and taking advantage of the runs out the backstage.

Goedert and two backrunners combined to catch 14 balls on Sunday for a total of 160 yards and two points.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said: “He stepped up and made plays for a guy who was starting his first game of the year.

But let’s be honest, does anyone out there really think Minshew is a franchise quarterback?

Remember he went to three different colleges, got drafted in the sixth round, and then went on to trade for a conditional sixth round pick.

He’s a character, the videos of him and his dad are awesome, the players seem to love him and he’s a pretty solid midfielder and with an eccentric look with a mustache on the handlebars , making him a fan favorite.

Look, we’ve all heard the term ‘Minshew Mania’, but don’t act like it happens every week.

He is the epitome of the highlight era we live in, where people don’t actually watch the game, they just watch the highlight of the game. Every once in a while, Minshew has a big game and the announcer says it’s “Minshew Mania”, but those moments don’t happen every week – if they did, the Eagles wouldn’t have put him in the sixth pick. to sue.

However, there are a lot of weeks where we don’t hear about ‘”Minshew Mania”, they don’t show the highlights of those games, but then every four weeks it comes back – “Minshew Mania” on your TV screen.

Kind of like “Fitzmagic.”

When Ryan Fitzpatrick has a good game, we watch it on TV and listen to it all week. However, those games don’t happen every week. That’s why Fitzpatrick has been on nine different teams since entering the 2005 tournament.

Having Minshew was a great and smart move, they got a top-level backup midfield, something all good teams have and appreciate. When your initial QB drops, Minshew is the perfect guy who might be interested to keep you in the playoff race.

If Minshew Mania were weekly, Jaguar didn’t need to do a midfield fight with the No. 1 overall pick, they already had their QB1.

But alas, Minshew Mania is like a vacation, it happens like once a month and it’s fun for the day, but once it’s over, you’re ready to go back to your normal routine.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas are all fun days, but you really don’t want to experience them every day. It’s not a bad thing to have Minshew Mania around, but if you have to dress up every day, that will age quickly. If you eat Thanksgiving dinner every week, it gets old. Buying Christmas presents every week will put you in financial trouble.

Minshew is a viable lad, but he doesn’t win many games, just 8-13 in two seasons.

What the Eagles have in Minshew is a really good backup midfielder, what they need to find out is, if they have a really good starting midfielder in Jalen Hurts.
