The one-time gasoline refund comes after Gov. Gavin Newsom reached a settlement with lawmakers in June 2022 amid the peak of inflation.
This latest initiative is part of a $9.5 million tax refund that will pay out payments to individuals of up to $1,050, according to ABC7.
Gas across the state is about a dollar a gallon more expensive this year compared to 2021, FOX11 said.
On average, the price of gas in Southern California is now $6 a gallon, the news agency reported.

Gasoline cost $7 at its highest in major cities like Los Angeles.
Eligibility requires that recipients of the one-off payment have submitted their tax return for 2020 to 2021.
Above the payment is an income cap of $150,000 per year.

Eligible individuals should expect to receive payment between October and January.
