Mike Tyson says Conor McGregor’s ‘crazy’ tough guy image is ‘a gimmick’ ahead of UFC star’s return

MIKE TYSON insists Conor McGregor’s ‘crazy’ tough image is just a gimmick and he’s actually a ‘handsome guy’ away from the spotlight.

The Notorious landed in Las Vegas this week to begin filming on the latest season of long-running reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter.

He will be joined by rivals coach Michael Chandler before the pair shed later this year when the Irishman will return to the octagon.

Former two-division champion McGregor has not set foot in the octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

A date for the fight has not yet been set because McGregor is yet to be re-entered into the US Anti-Doping Agency’s drug testing pool – which he must be in for at least six months before he can compete.

At this point, September is the earliest the showdown will take place.

But you can expect the 34-year-old former UFC world champion to show off his usual mouthful and brash antics with two weights in front.

However, the Baddest Man on the Planet Tyson, who once bit a chunk out of Evander Holyfield’s ear, says McGregor is a kitty.

During an episode of “Hotboxin with Mike Tyson,” the former heavyweight titleholder said, “You’ve got to have a gimmick… It’s legit, but it’s a gimmick.

“The only guys who have all the money have a gimmick.”

Tyson added: “Look at Conor McGregor. He has a gimmick.

“He’s crazy, he’s brave, it’s a gimmick.

“In real life, he’s a beautiful guy.”
