Mike Trout Has a Message for Millville’s Winter Sports Teams

The Millville basketball program has a new home this season.

The Thunderbolts have a brand new gymnasium that hosted Friday night’s first game against the Cumberland Regional, a 60-53 win for Millville, giving head coach Mike LaTorre his first career win.

Before the game, the team received a special message from their most famous person, Mike Trout.

Trout, who used to play for the Millville basketball team, told the team to “break out this beautiful new gym on the right, with a W”.

He went on to wish all winter Thunderbolts teams success in their winters.

Video announcements are played inside the brand new gym before the start of the game.

Trout, a 2009 graduate of Millville, is a nine-time MLB All-Star, three-time American League Champion. During his time at Millville, he played on the basketball team and his senior season he averaged 14.7 points per game, 10th best in the Cape-Atlantic League. He was also the league’s third top scorer that season, scoring 11 goals per game for the Thunderbolts 18-8.

Jaden Merrill will forever be known as the first home basketball player.
