MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar) – A Midland woman is behind bars, accused of stealing an iPhone while she was filling out a job application.

According to an arrest warrant, on January 27, a Midland Police Department patrol officer hit a black Cadillac for failing to give way and nearly caused an accident in the 1700 block of College Avenue. . As the officer approached the vehicle, he recognized the driver, identified as Glenda Wilson, 52, as a wanted person with a pending warrant.

While the officer was confirming the status of Wilson’s outstanding orders, another vehicle arrived at the scene. The woman in that car told the officer that Wilson was in possession of a stolen iPhone from her sister. The victim told police she used the “Find My iPhone” app to track its location.

According to video taken from a restaurant on the 3300 block of N Midland Drive, Wilson, who applied for a job, snatched the phone when it was left beside the cashier and placed it in her purse. She then left the restaurant and hid her phone in her car, then went back to her business to fill out an application.

Officers then searched Wilson’s car and found a phone the victim identified as stolen, the affidavit was released.

Wilson was charged with theft and was also held for unpaid orders related to the theft of mail. She remains in custody through Friday afternoon on a total of $1,500 worth of bonds.
