Today Microsoft and Asobo Studio held a live introduces upcoming plans for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
We hear from Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, Asobo CEO Sebastian Wlock, and executive producer Martial Bossard.
World Update VII has been announced and that will be Australia. It will include more photometric enhanced cities than any previous update in the world. It will launch on January 25, and more information will be available after that.
The next Local Legend plane with the world update will be developed in partnership with Orbx. It was the Fokker F.VIIb “Southern Cross” Fokker F.VIIb / 3m delta engine flown by Charles Kingsford Smith during the first transpacific flight to Australia from the continental United States.
It will be available in a version with the original cockpit and a version with modern instrumentation. This package will include a user manual and dedicated missions that reproduce its history.
You can see the image of the working process below.
The next announcement came from PMDG, Confirmed that DC-6 is coming to the official market and Xbox version of the emulator. It will launch next week on PC and then Xbox.
PMDG has 14 projects in the development of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and founder Robert Randazzo teased a Boeing 757.
A partner for the glider has also been announced, and that is the FlySim Studio AG. The aim of the studio is to emulate both the relaxing and thrilling aspects of flying gliders. The project is still in the research phase, so it will take some time to come to fruition.
The Sim 8 update will arrive at the end of February and will include a new Chinese localization and “Marketplace 2.0”. Below you can find a snapshot of the new response.
We also heard that there is a possibility of performance improvement with DirectX 12, but it should be improved in future updates. Wlock mentioned that he thinks it could be a 10-15% improvement.
