The teenager doubts in a School shooting leaves four high school students dead in Oxford, Mich., earlier this week recorded cell phone video talking about the killing of students, officials said Wednesday.
Ethan Crumbley, 15, was charged as an adult with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of terrorism causing death, among other counts.
After the shooting happened, investigators found two videos on Crumbley’s phone, which they believe were taken the night before the crime. In the videos The suspect talked about the shooting death of a student at a high school, said Lieutenant Tim Willis of the Oakland County Sheriff.
Authorities also found a magazine written by Crumbley, with entries referring to the shooting and killing of students, CNN reported.
He faces life in prison on both terrorism and murder charges. Crumbley pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday.
Crumbley faces adult terrorism charges because of changes to Michigan law after 9/11.
The state’s 2002 counterterrorism law defines acts of terrorism that are intended to intimidate or coerce civilians or to influence government operations through intimidation or coercion. Gun control advocates who watched schoolyard shootings were not immediately aware of similar terror charges filed in other states.
“It’s not a routine, a typical allegation,” Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald said of the terrorist killings, adding that four students were killed and seven others injured. Shooting is not the only victim.
“What about all those kids running, screaming, hiding under their desks? What about all the kids at home now, they can’t eat, can’t sleep and can’t imagine a world where they can step foot back into that school? So are the victims, their families and communities. The terrorism charge reflects that.”
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said he “100%” supports the terrorism charge against Crumbley.
“If you weren’t hit, that doesn’t mean you weren’t terrorized that day and won’t have nightmares about (it) for the rest of your life – whether you’re a parent, teacher or students in that class,” he said.
Law officials at Wednesday’s hearing detailed the events that took place at Oxford High School that led to the shooting.
Crumbley’s Parents Have Been Asked attend a teacher meeting on the morning of the shooting to discuss behavioral issues, NPR reports.

According to CNN, two teachers were reported separate cases of related conduct from year two, and two meetings were held with Crumbley just hours before the massacre.
Prosecutors told the court that a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol allegedly used by Crumbley was purchased by his father days before the Black Friday shootings, and MacDonald said she was is reviewing charges against Crumbley’s parents.
“We know that owning a firearm means having to properly secure it and lock it and keep ammunition separate and out of reach of other individuals, especially minors,” McDonald said. at a press conference on Wednesday, according to Detroit Free Press.
Prosecutor Mark Keast said security video from inside the school showed the shooter entering a bathroom with a backpack and appearing shortly after with a gun.
Police say the shooter methodically walked into the hall, firing more than 30 shots directly at students and through classroom doors. Three people died on Tuesday and another died in hospital on Wednesday. Seven more people were injured.
