The Chicago Bulls icon has supported the nonprofit for over 30 years, but his latest gift is the largest from an individual in the organization’s history.

Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has been raising money to grant wishes to children with serious illnesses.

Jordan first showed support for the nonprofit in 1989.

Almost 20 years later, he was named Make-A-Wish Chief Wish Ambassador for his continued community service in partnership with the organization.

And most recently, the six-time NBA champion made a record-breaking $10 million donation on February 17 in honor of his 60th birthday

As for his birthday wish, according to a press release, he hopes “that his transformational gift will inspire others to make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.”

“For the past 34 years, it has been an honor to work with Make-A-Wish and help bring smiles and happiness to so many children,” said Jordan.

“To see her strength and resilience at such a difficult time in her life was truly an inspiration.

“I can’t think of a better birthday present than to see others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic when their wish comes true.”

The press release includes an image of Jordan hugging a young woman named Katie, whose wish was granted by the NBA legend in 2000.

According to Make-A-Wish, Katie’s experience was so impressive that she went on to work full-time for the nonprofit for nearly five years.

Jordan continues to be a hugely influential figure both on and off the basketball court.

Earlier this season, the NBA honored the legendary Bull’s legacy by naming the MVP award winner’s trophy after him.

The statue features several references to Jordan’s career, but bears no resemblance to him.

The five-time MVP reportedly wanted the honorees to see themselves in the trophy, not him.
