Staying true to his ‘Jaguar’ moniker, ONE Championship’s Jeremy Miado is ready for his chance to return to the fight scene.
Follow him ONE: Heavy Hitters last minute demo on January 14 due to COVID-19 protocol, the 29-year-old was forced to sit back and watch his rival Senzo Ikeda steal the show with a savage knockdown his replacement, Elipitua Siregar.
In an interview with the promotion, Miado gave props to both fighters as they were quick to adjust, but clearly gave Ikeda more praise:
“I know and I expect that from him. I can say I was surprised with how both athletes performed in that match, but I was definitely impressed with Ikeda. You can see him. How determined he was to win and he really did his best to win that fight.”
Ikeda’s striking prowess in a last-minute game plan is impressive enough for ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong to give the 39-year-old a combat bonus of US$50,000.
Of course, now Miado will have to wait a while to get another shot at the Japanese veteran, but that shouldn’t affect his energy one bit:
“I’m more excited now. We’ve prepared him and he’s proven that he really is a strong fighter. He presented a very interesting challenge for me that I needed to. pass to progress with his career. You can see that he is really a striker, and that means we have the same cake and butter. So what if we meet again? again, I have to really be at my best and strive harder in my training.”
