Yrma Lydya was gunned down by Jesus Hernandez, 79, in a private room at a Japanese restaurant in Mexico City, police officers say.

Folk artist Lydya was eating at the venue in the Benito Juarez neighborhood when she was killed last Thursday.
The couple got into an argument in their private room and Hernandez shot his young wife three times in the chest, sources say.
It is also alleged that he and his bodyguard, Benjamin Hernandez, then attempted to flee the scene in a luxury car, but were arrested by police officers.
Hernandez then tried to bribe officials into letting him go, reports say.
The horror murder came after Lydya contacted a law firm in April about starting divorce proceedings.
She showed pictures of her bruised face from a series of domestic violence incidents as evidence, reports Mexico’s Excelsior.
Lydya had also lodged a complaint with the police in December, alleging that her husband had beaten her and on another occasion threatened her with a gun.
Mexico City security chief Omar Garcia Harfuch said Hernandez met with two people at the restaurant at 2 p.m. last Thursday before leaving around 6 p.m., Milenio News Network reports.
Lydya later arrived at the restaurant and alleged gunshots echoed through the restaurant after she and her husband started arguing.
A police officer who was in the restaurant rushed into the private room and detained Hernandez, a witness for the Primer Impacto news program
Harfuch confirmed the singer died after receiving three shots in her chest during the argument.
Hernandez and his bodyguard appeared in court on Sunday and are now being held in custody at a Mexico City jail while police continue their investigation.
The attorney pleaded not guilty and insisted he did not kill Lydya, who was scheduled to perform at a concert in California on Saturday.
Hernandez is due to appear in court again this Thursday after his request to be placed under house arrest due to his age was denied by the judge.
