Temperatures are double calculated on weekends
Temperatures are expected to stay at double over the next weekend, so your New Year’s celebration could be a good day.
Warm south-westerly winds from the Azores have reached the UK, replacing the cooler northerly winds commonly seen at this time of year.
However, after this warm weekend, the mercury will soon drop and more snow will be expected.
Met Office forecaster Craig Snell warned: “We’re keeping a close eye on the New Year’s Eve weather, because that record (14.8C) is pretty much at stake.
“But it looks like the transition (to cooler weather) will happen on Bank Holiday morning.”
The Met Office says showers are possible across Scotland from Monday, January 3 but added: “Late Monday is expected to turn colder with a chance of rain. fences at lower levels.”
