An emergency warning for ice, snow and wind has been issued
WINTER is making a comeback as a cold strip of snow and sleet sweeps south across the UK today, with an ice warning over northern parts issued.
A bone-chilling polar plunge will erupt in the coming hours as frozen air howls south.
Forecaster WX Charts has forecast snow in the Scottish Highlands and parts of Yorkshire.
But areas further south could also see snow, sleet or freezing rain, including Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool, which will be affected in the early hours of this morning.
Birmingham, Leicester and south Wales will see some severe weather at 6am, and by 9am a stretch of country between Essex and Devon will be strained.
Yellow weather warnings for wind, snow and ice have been issued for northern parts of Scotland, which will be hardest hit, with blizzards and gales of 70 mph.
