Mesut Özil “tore up Fenerbahce contract” with ex-Arsenal star already in talks with new club about transfer

MESUT OZIL has reportedly left Fenerbahce after his contract ended.
The 33-year-old midfielder joined the Turkish giants in January 2021 and has made 36 appearances for the club.

But after Ozil scored eight goals in 22 league games last season, he was deemed overwhelmed and sacked, NTV Spor report.
However, Özil might not stay long without a club and could even remain at Istanbul after talks of a move to Istanbul Başakşehir.
The former Arsenal star fell out of favor and was dropped from the squad by former interim head coach Ismail Kartal, who questioned his fitness.
The appointment of Jorge Jesus as manager did not change the situation and Özil continued to remain frozen until his release.
Özil reportedly wanted to end his career at Fenerbahce but the club is ready for a new approach.
He would be quite a coup for Istanbul Basaksehir and he could join former Tottenham rival Nacer Chadli at the club.
Özil is nearing the end of his career and if he doesn’t find a club he might consider hanging up his boots.
He already has retirement plans with the midfielder’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, told The Telegraph: “He’ll get into sports more, play himself and maybe become an esports player.
