Javier Bardem has shown impressive range as an actor, which perhaps explains why he has received so many Oscar nominations throughout his career. For now, we’re not too secretive about his vocals in regards to musical numbers, but that’s about to change thanks to “The Little Mermaid.” Through the Diversity, Bardem noted that director Rob Marshall has granted King Triton his own song for the upcoming film adaptation. We’ll hear bits of that, though that’s if Bardem can stop being in awe of his co-star Halle Bailey’s vocals. While talking to Tonight’s reception, Bardem was full of praise for Bailey’s voice as Ariel.
“She was warming up her voice near me, and I was like ‘What’s that?’ She said, ‘Oh, I just got started,'” Bardem told the outlet. “It would take me five years to do it!”
Given how talented Bailey has shown with Chloe X Halle, a musical featuring her and her sister Chloe Bailey, we can see why Bardem has heaps of praise on her co-star. In addition to producing Grammy Award-nominated albums such as “Ungodly Hour” (via Teen magazine), Chloe X Halle has also toured a few times with Beyoncé. There was a bit of anxiety that Halle Bailey would do a great job playing Ariel. But if there’s any doubt, at least Bardem can now verify her.
