Melbourne, Australia struck by magnitude 5.9 earthquake

MELBOURNE, Australia — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake precipitated slight injury in suburban Melbourne on Wednesday in an unusually highly effective temblor for Australia.
The quake hit about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northeast of Australia’s second-most populous metropolis close to the city of Mansfield at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), Geoscience Australia stated.
Minor structural injury to chimneys, facades and older buildings was reported across the Melbourne metropolitan space. A hospital close to the epicenter misplaced energy, and fallen bricks littered some metropolis streets.
Seismology Analysis Centre Chief Scientist Adam Pascale stated it was the most important onshore quake in Victoria’s recorded historical past.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated there have been no experiences of significant damage.
The earthquake was the most important to rattle Australia since a magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck 210 kilometers (130 miles) off the northwest coastal city of Broome in 2019.
