Meet Trace McSorley, quarterback on the verge of NFL breakthrough and already viral on social media and YouTube fame

AFTER four seasons in the NFL, Trace McSorley will start a regular season game.

But this won’t be the first time McSorley, 27, has seen his name all over social media.

A Virginia native, he spent five years as a Penn State Nittany Lion, during which time he spent three years as a starter and made 46 appearances.

McSorley, a two-time second-team All-Big Ten member, led the Nittany Lions to a Fiesta Bowl victory in 2017 and a Big Ten championship in 2016.

He also set a number of school records and won the Big Ten Championship MVP award.

McSorley appeared to have become a fan favorite as a result, with one particular fan particularly keen on the quarterback.

Matt Freiler, aka Matty Fresh, created a song celebrating McSorely prior to his senior season at Penn State.

Fast forward to 2020 and McSorley is a member of the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted in the sixth round the year before.

And then suddenly the song goes viral after finding life on TikTok.

In fact, the song currently has over 7.6 million views on YouTube, while the TikTok audio mixed with Collio’s Gangsta’s Paradise has been used in over 6,600 videos.

And while his internet fame has peaked, at least for now, his NFL career is on the verge of a new peak.

The current Arizona Cardinals quarterback has been a backup throughout his career, but that’s about to change.

With starter Kyler Murray out and Colt McCoy also injured, McSorley will make his first career start on Christmas Day when the Cardinals host NFL legend Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

McSorley called his chance to launch “an exciting opportunity.”

He continued, “I always want to feel that excitement and feel a little bit just so I can enjoy the moment but at the same time be focused and ready to go.”

And luckily for McSorley, his sister and parents will be supporting him in the stands, while his fiancee Kasey Morano will surely be watching too.

He and Morano have been engaged since the summer of 2021 while they have been together for six years.

According to USA Today, Morano was a field hockey player at Penn State.

The couple has a dog named Archie.
