Meet the University of Wisconsin cheerleaders

Known as one of the top cheerleading squads in the country, the University of Wisconsin Cheerleaders are student-athletes and ambassadors for the university.

They are part of the University of Wisconsin’s Spirit Squad, consisting of cheerleaders, dance team members and costumed Bucky the Badger mascots.

Who are the University of Wisconsin cheerleaders?

The University of Wisconsin is known in the NCAA for its strong basketball and football teams.

The UW cheerleaders, who are cheered on from the sidelines and from halffield or midfield during breaks in games, according to their website, are: “A highly visible, enthusiastic and talented group of student-athletes with a primary goal of supporting intercollegiate athletics and serving as ambassadors for the university.” of Wisconsin.”

The cheerleaders are divided into two different squads: the coed squad and the all-girl squad.

The mixed group cheers at soccer and men’s basketball games, while the all-girls group cheers at soccer and women’s basketball games.

What are the requirements to join the UW Cheerleading Squad?

UW cheerleaders must be full-time students (at least 12 hours per semester) and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

They must also participate in at least three cheer exercises per week and lift at least two weekly weight sessions during the school year.

During the summer, they must attend a cheer camp and at least three weekends of practice.

They must also attend any home, away, bowl, or postseason games they are asked to attend.

As ambassadors for the school, cheer squads are also frequently invited to public events where they are required to appear.
