McShay’s Mock Draft 1.0 features Eagles landing three players at Rd 1

It is a wonderful time of year!

No, not college season. NFL trial season!

This pilot draft season could be the best of all time with the Eagles holding three picks in this April draft.

blank senior drafts analyst Todd McShay posted his NFL 1.0 Test draft today, with the Eagles bringing in three new players to try and help them through the 2022 season .

First with pick 10, from the Miami Dolphins, he let the Eagles go on the defensive, with Michigan defensive lineback David Ojabo.

Philly started her three-pick Round 1 party with an explosive passer. Ojabo’s first move was lightning fast, and he finished QB incredibly well – 11.0 pitches and 14 tackles lost this season prove it. Brandon Graham This year will be 34 and returning from an Achilles injury next season, and only two teams have fewer sacks this year than the Eagles’ 21. Michigan only had as many defenders in the first round three times (1972, 2017 and 2019), but here it took two into the top 10.

The full-back is also clearly a question mark. If the Eagle decides to move from Jalen Hurts, they may settle for several picks in their first round to upgrade. But I can’t see them betting on a weak crop on QB prospects if they can’t solve the problem with commerce or free agency.

Essentially, Ojabo will be prepared to replace Michigan’s first-round pick Brandon Graham, who will miss this season with an ACL injury. Given his injury and age, it’s unclear if he will return to full strength next season and whether Ojabo is right for that role.

Next in pick 14, McShay let the Eagles stay in possession, knocking out Utah defender Devin Lloyd.

The Eagles have only used a defender in the first round for the past 40 years (Marcus Smith 2014), but they can clearly use an attacking midfielder in the middle of the defence. Lloyd — who has 96 tackles, 20 tackles lost, 7.0 saves and four interceptions for Utah this season — is cheerful and moves around the field like a 235-pound safety. He could quickly become a defensive QB for Philadelphia. Cincinnati Corner Ahmad Gardner and USC . receiver Drake London may also be playing.

While McShay mentioned Marcus Smith as the last defender to be included in the first round, actually the last real defender they picked was Jerry Robinson in 1979. The team renewed TJ Edwards’ contract. and brought Davion Taylor into the third round last season, but doesn’t appear to be an influential player in the position Lloyd could have been.

Next is the Eagles’ pick from the Colts, which they received in the Carson Wentz deal, currently in 20th. With that pick, McShay asked the Eagles to try to upgrade their wide-collection position with the Ohio State open. wide Garrett Wilson.

The Eagles expected three picks in the top 20, and we used the first two picks defensively (David Ojabo and Devin Lloyd). An NFL team has gone to WR well in the first round of three consecutive drafts just once during the general draft period, according to ESPN Statistics & Information (Lions, 2003-05), but let’s face it : Philadelphia still needs catchers despite the draft Jalen Reagor and DeVonta Smith in the past two years. Wilson’s body control in maneuvering the ball in the air is amazing, he has the wheels to make a big play down the field and he shows a spearhead for the late area (12 TD this season). Corner defender is another position to watch, especially with Auburn’s Roger McCreary still out there.

The need for another wide collector is because Jalen Reagor the 2020 first round player has been a complete let down and the team needs to add another piece from the first pick of 2021 which is DeVonta Smith.

The NFL Draft still has a long way to go, but is there anything better than the draft season?
