Some criticized the veteran midfielder for his reaction in a viral video, which showed him seemingly turning away from the incident rather than assisting.

It’s not clear what happens in the moments after the fall, when the camera pans away to capture a long shot.

But now, the NFL star and his spouse have announced that they will cover Smiley’s medical expenses.

The couple said: “We’ve been in contact with Kelly Smiley … and we’re sorry for what happened.”

‘SURPRISE I HAVE REMOVED MY SPIRIT’

A GoFundMe page was also set up for Kelly, which raised nearly $50,000 in less than 24 hours.

Organizer Tim Kothlow wrote: “Thank you to everyone who donated their time and money to help Kelly!

“She was so grateful and filled with the love and support that was shown.

“Kelly has been discharged from the hospital and is resting at home.

“We are currently pausing the fundraising until we have more updates on how to proceed.”

The Rams celebrated their first Super Bowl win since 2000, with Stafford clinching the win with a TD throw in the fourth quarter against Cooper Kupp.

Coach Shaun McVay led the celebration, which included a mile-long journey through the streets by bus.

The Rams players drank and smoked cigars as they celebrated their victory, before giving a speech in front of the old LA Memorial Coliseum.
