Russian media reported a “major attack” and blamed “fire” from across the border in Ukraine.

The blast occurred in the Belgorod region, which is in close proximity to war-torn Kharkiv.

Vladimir Putin will be furious if the exploded factory was used to manufacture parts for his beloved Crimean bridge.

The massive £3.2 billion bridge is valued by the Kremlin as it stretches from mainland Russia into the annexed region.

It was attacked earlier in the year and left partially collapsed after a large bomb blast.

The video showed a spectacular fire at the Belgorod plant today.

The flames reportedly reached about 170 feet high.

Russian reports said there was shelling, while witnesses claimed to have heard gunshots.

It is understood that an oil depot in or near the plant exploded and fire damage spread to the Borisovsky Bridge metal structure plant.

“At night, a civilian industrial plant in Borisovka was attacked by the armed forces of Ukraine,” regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

He said: “No one was injured, the company’s employees were evacuated in time.

“Now everything is being done to ensure that the damage remains as low as possible.”

A report of the Telegram channel Horizontal Russia says: “Due to shelling in the Belgorod region, a large fire broke out at the plant.

“The shells hit the territory of an industrial plant in the Borisovsky district.”

Nearby windows shattered from the force of the explosion.

Belgorod has reported dozens of attacks from Ukraine after Putin launched his illegal invasion.

Other reports said there was a shift at the factory when the attack came, adding that there was no word of casualties.

The same site was reportedly attacked in May last year.

Russia has been plagued by a series of mysterious fires and explosions since the war began.

And in the border regions, Ukraine has occasionally launched strikes or daring crackdowns to repel Putin.

It comes as dreaded Russia fears a full-scale attack involving up to 500,000 troops in the coming weeks.

Putin will try to save face and launch an attack to coincide with the anniversary of his invasion, February 24.
