Mass shooting in Norfolk: Gunman opens fire at off-campus party, wounding several students

SEVERAL Norfolk State University students were injured after a mass shooting at an off-campus party.
Seven people – including students from the Virginia college – were taken to the hospital.

According to the police, two of the victims have life-threatening injuries, the others less severe injuries.
Police were called to the scene around midnight on Sunday.
The NSU confirmed that the shooting took place at a house party and that the injured students were bystanders.
The home was a few blocks from Old Dominion University, but no ODU students were injured.
At 00:46 an ODU campus alert was broadcast:
“ODU Alert: Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating a shooting at Block 5000 of Killam Avenue. Please stay out of the area.”
NSU also released a tweet after the incident:
“The Norfolk Police Department has informed us that several NSU students have been the victims of a shooting at a remote off-campus location near 50th Street and Hampton Blvd.
“The NSU police have secured the NSU campus. Counseling will be provided to any student who needs help.”
