Mason City, Iowa house fire – Four children under the age of 12 died after a terrible fire engulfed the house and injured two others

FOUR children have died and two others were injured after a fire ripped through a Mason City home early this morning.
The Mason City Fire Department responded to the scene just after 5 a.m. Wednesday and discovered a completely engulfed house.

Fire Chief Eric Bullinger said two victims were found outside the family home.
John Mcluer, 55, and Ravan Dawn Mcluer, 11, were treated for burn injuries.

The four other victims, all under the age of 12, were taken to the hospital, where they later died.


They were identified as John Michael Mcluer Jr, 12; Odin Thor Mcluer, 10; Draco Mcluer, 6; and Phoenix Mcluer, 3.
Their causes of death are under investigation.
The relationships between the victims have not yet been clarified.
Firefighters said they had the blaze under control by 5:25 a.m. and that it was fully extinguished 90 minutes after their first call.
Upon arrival, flames could be seen on both the first and second floors of the home.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries fighting the blaze.


The Mason City Police and Fire Department and the Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating the blaze.
In a statement, the Mason City Fire Department said it “extends our condolences to the family and friends of the Mcluer family who have suffered this loss,” according to KIMT3 News.
