GAME Wrestling star Markus Crane has died aged 33, several years after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
The wrestler’s sad departure was confirmed by GCW in a statement above Twitter in Monday.
“With sadness, GCW mourns the loss of Cranes Markus. As a performer, Markus embodies the spirit of GCW. He is an underdog and an outlaw. He is fearless in the ring and determined to win against the odds.
“He played a key role in the early success of GCW and has been part of the heart and soul of our squad from day one. Markus is passionate about GCW and Deathmatch Wrestling.
“We are very proud that he represented GCW at Korakuen Hall in our first show in Japan,” added the independent wrestling company.
GCW added: “In 2019, Markus suffered a traumatic brain injury that nearly claimed his life. We were all inspired (but amazed) as he miraculously recovered and worked tirelessly to finally return to the ring.
“Most recently, Markus returned home to his family with a commitment to focus his energies towards a healthier lifestyle.
“He celebrated a series of milestones in his sobriety, which he proudly showcased and got us all excited about his future. As a friend, Markus is very important. heart and loyalty.
“He was quick to smile, or bring a smile to your face. We are all lucky to know him. Rest in peace, Markus. We will miss you.”
Crane is a deathmatch wrestler who regularly performs in Japan, where he used to work for Big Japan and FREEDOM.
His most famous GCW matches were in the 2018 Nick Gage Invitational final, where he played against Gage and Japanese Deathmatch legends Isami Kodaka and Masashi Takeda.
In December 2019, doctors discovered Crane had an infection that was eating away at his skull and leaking into his brain.
Part of his skull was removed to allow the treatment to work.
However, it remains unclear whether a brain infection contributed to his death.
WRESTLING WORLD MOURNS CRANE’S DEATH
AAW Pro Wrestling released a statement regarding the passing of the former champion, saying: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of former AAW Tag Team champion Markus Crane. We apologize. condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
WWE Star Cora Jade tweeted: “Damn. Life is short. Rest In Peace Markus Crane.”
