Maren Morris reveals she is “leaving country music” due to “drama” and feuds within the industry in a shocking announcement

MAREN Morris has quit country music in a shocking announcement, admitting parts of her career “no longer” make her happy.
The Texas-born artist, 33, made her big announcement after releasing two new songs – “The Tree” and “Get The Hell Out Of Here” on Friday.
Maren, who moved to Nashville a decade ago, made her decision after calling out the country music scene’s shortcomings when it comes to racism, misogyny and gender representation.
She told it openly L.A. Times about the industry’s failings, saying, “I thought I’d like to burn it down and start over.”
“But it will burn itself down without my help.”
Maren continued, “I’m trying to mature here and realize that I can just leave behind the parts of this that no longer make me happy.”

“Being one of the few women to have success on country radio, everything you do is scrutinized.
“You get more scrutiny than your male counterparts, even when you’re doing well. So this year I had to put all that out of my head and just write songs.”
“With a lot of drama within the community, I decided to get out there.”
Over the course of her career, Maren has had four singles reach number one on the Billboard Country Music charts.
She was also a six-time winner of the Country Music Association Awards.
