Despite Brighton’s claim NO deal was in effect Fabrizio Romano has announced that Cucurella is in London tonight.
The sought-after full-back – who is also wanted by Manchester City – has now passed a medical ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge.
Various papers will be signed shortly, allowing Chelsea to finally confirm the deal after Brighton rejected an agreement last night.
And Romano adds the Blues will pay a fixed fee of £55m, with £7m in add-ons.
Chelsea kid Levi Colwill will then join Brighton on loan after initially being reported as being on a permanent deal.
Cucurella was set to join Man City this summer after making a transfer request.
The champions fell through with multiple offers for the former Barcelona youngster, with the most recent reaching just £40million.
But Brighton insisted they would not consider a deal for less than £50m.
