MANCHESTER CITY defender Aymeric Laporte posted a photo of his gruesome thigh injury after Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong exited the red for a stud challenge.
Referee Simon Hooper stuck with his yellow card ruling after checking VAR in The 1-1 draw at St Mary’s ended the leaders’ 12-match winning streak.
But Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness is among those who think Armstrong is ‘lucky’ not to be sent off.
The Scotland midfielder continued as his challenge was seen as a ‘glare’ and ‘lack of intensity’.
Laporte later showed off his nasty cut – wide and swollen – on Twitter.
The Spain midfielder, 27, added: “Thanks for the souvenir.”
And any frustration he feels was only apparent when he revealed how frustrated City were when their Premier League lead was dropped to 12 points.
Kyle Walker-Peters blew up Southampton’s early opener.
But it was Laporte who headed the save for Man City in the 65th minute from Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick.
He later told the BBC of the Match of the Day: “It was tough. I think we deserved a little more.

“We dropped two points, but it happens sometimes.”
Meanwhile, fans on social media seem divided over whether Armstrong should do the same.
Some called it an ‘obvious’ send-off and one said: “Never understood how he didn’t get a red card.”
But others felt it was just a misjudged tackle – with the injury worse than intended.
