But new boss Ten Hag, who was appointed at the end of the season, wants to bring a new kind of football to Old Trafford.

The former Ajax manager is known for his creative playing style and penchant for defence.

He’s also brought in a couple of new signings, including Lisandro Martinez for £45m from Ajax and Christian Eriksen on a free from Brentford.

However, the arrivals at Old Trafford have been somewhat overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to leave the club.

Brighton, meanwhile, are trying to build on a promising ninth place last season which saw top sides Man City and Chelsea in contention for £50million-rated Marc Cucurella.

Team News

All eyes will be on Erik Ten Hag’s first team selection at 1pm on Sunday afternoon as he decides whether or not to take on Ronaldo.

The Portuguese striker left United’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano early after being sent off at half-time and has reportedly made it clear he wants to leave.

And after Ten Hag blasted Ronaldo’s decision to take off during the Rayo game and said he needed to improve his fitness, a place on the bench seems like the most likely outcome for the Portugal captain.

Elsewhere, new boy Tyrell Malacia could start at left-back after impressing United fans throughout pre-season.

And you can expect strikers Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford to start together after their fruitful summers with the side.

Brighton have made just two signings so far this summer, Paraguay’s Julio Enciso from Libertad and Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra from FC Nordsjaelland.

It remains to be seen whether Graham Potter will start given the interest in full-back Cucurella.
