Dembele ‘rejected’ Barca’s request

Ousmane Dembele has returned to Barcelona and has stated that he still wants to play for the club.

Barcelona have announced they could sell the winger this month after rejecting numerous offers to sign a new contract.

Dembele’s current contract expires in the summer but he revealed he remains committed to the club despite the stalled negotiations.

He said in a statement: “Rumors about me have been piling up for four years. It’s been four years since people spoke up in my defense, shamelessly lying with a single purpose – to harm me.

“It’s over for today. From today I’ll be honest without giving in to any form of blackmail.

“My message is transparent. I forbid anyone to give the impression that I am not involved in the sports project.

“I forbid anyone to label me with intentions that I never had. I forbid anyone to tell me or my agent, whom I fully trust.

“Still under contract, I am fully involved and at the discretion of the club, my coach.

“I’ve always given everything to my colleagues and all of my partners – not that has changed now. I’m not a man to cheat, and I’m not even a man in the habit of giving in to extortion. money.”

“As you know there are negotiations. I let my agent handle it, that’s his part of the pitch.

“My field is the ball, playing football, sharing happy moments with teammates. Above all, focus on winning.”
