Man Utd transfer blow as Marco Reus considers turning down Ten Hag’s offer of £200k-a-week for new deal at Borussia Dortmund

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly taken a hit in their pursuit of Marco Reus after it was revealed he remains in contract talks with Borussia Dortmund.

The contract of 33-year-old Reus with the Bundesliga expires at the end of the season.

Erik ten Hag was reportedly keen on adding the German to his squad on a free transfer, much like he did with Christian Eriksen last summer.

In fact, United are said to have offered a £200,000-a-week deal to lure Reus to Old Trafford.

These speculations were exacerbated when his agents Dirk lever and Darren Freeman were watching the Manchester derby.

According to a report from 90min, however, Dortmund is in a dialogue with the representatives among those involved.

Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed that talks between the two parties are ongoing.

He told Sky Germany earlier this week: “We are in trusting talks with the player and the agent.

“There is nothing more to say about it at the moment. We don’t get carried away either. We know each other very, very well and have a good relationship of trust.”

Kehl then took a hit at the early-season fiasco, which saw dirty laundry publicly aired during recent negotiations with youngster Youssoufa Moukoko.

He added, “We don’t need all of those media themes that we’ve had around Moukoko for every personal detail.”

Talks were held with Manchester City before lever went to London, with the Cityzens put off by his client’s age.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr is another team Reus has been linked with over the summer.

RB Leipzig also had his name in the hat, but that was downplayed by club chief executive Max Eberl, who said: “There’s nothing to it [the transfer rumour].

“We’re quietly thinking about summer. You have to think of free transfer players. There is no more and no less.”

The Red Devils’ switch position could be strengthened by using BVB’s interest in a loan for Anthony Elanga to their advantage.

Meanwhile, United meet Reading in the FA Cup tonight, with the likes of Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Harry Maguire taking turns. Man Utd transfer blow as Marco Reus considers turning down Ten Hag’s offer of £200k-a-week for new deal at Borussia Dortmund
