Man Utd title winner storms out of press conference after being accused of signing ‘Brazil’s least efficient striker’

LAURENT BLANC stormed out of a press conference after being asked by journalists if he would sign Brazil’s ‘least efficient striker’.

The French are languishing in mid-table in Ligue 1 after an underwhelming season.

However, the 23-year-old’s nearly £9million signing from Brazilian club Botafogo has drawn criticism.

Lyon manager Blanc, who won two titles as a player with Manchester United in the early 2000s, answered journalists’ questions about the striker.

But he didn’t take Jeffinho’s efficiency well to a point where Opta stats suggest he’s not the sharpest shooter.

The newcomer scored just two of his 55 shots for Botafogo last season and one journalist questioned why Lyon chose to sign ‘Brazil’s least efficient striker’.

Dissatisfied with the question, former France coach Blanc abruptly left the press conference after another brief exchange with reporters.

He was reportedly more unfazed by questions about the club’s transfer deal than the upcoming game against Troyes.

It’s been a difficult season for Lyon, who would have wanted to improve on last season’s disappointing 8th place.

Still, Les Gones sits 10th after 21 games, 11 points behind a European position.

They will also lose rising star Malo Gusto permanently to Chelsea in the summer after he was loaned out to the French club amid the Blues’ busy transfer deal.
