Erik ten Hag prevailed against Antonio Conte in the crunch battle on Wednesday.

And it was a trio of samba stars that particularly caught the eye.

But who else had a great game for United? And did anyone forget a match?

Here SunSport’s Anthony Chapman provides his Man Utd player ratings…

DAVID DE GEA – 7

Had surprisingly little to do despite encountering the supposedly best striker duo in the league, but saved well against Kane at close range.

Standing in for his team-mates when Spurs got tough at set pieces and showed a lot of desire to push United forward.

DIOGO DALOT – 8

Has that right side nailed in the United team now.

He’s confident going forward and always wanted the ball. He’s hoping to add some end quality to his game next.

Raphael Varane – 8

Starting to give glimpses of his past qualities at Real Madrid.

Organized United’s back line well and ensured there were no gaps for Spurs forwards to slip through.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ – 8

Rewriting the rulebook on what it takes to be a top Premier League centre-back.

Kept Kane and Son calm with some clean interceptions and was key in United’s rapid build-up.

Luke Shaw—8

Solid and determined, he seems to have turned a corner after faltering earlier this season.

Loved venturing forward but also focused on holding on to the back.

CASEMIRO – 8

Beginning to feel at home in the heart of Ten Hag’s team.

Proving he wasn’t shy about shooting with an outrageous long-range effort, he brought a calm presence to the fight against Spurs’ three sitters.

fred-9

A real devil in midfield, he was one of United’s standout players that night.

The Brazilian excelled in all areas and his efforts were rewarded in the opener at Old Trafford.

Antony and Bruno Fernandes also played key roles in the win

Anthony – 8

Fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.

His silky footwork sent Spurs skidding and the Brazilian is on course to become a firm fan favourite.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 9

He appeared for the great opportunity to silence his critics.

He took off his socks for the team but also reminded people he really has a wand of a right foot too as he scored in United’s second goal.

JADON SANCHO – 8

Another sovereign game of the English World Cup hope.

Gareth Southgate won’t be able to ignore him for much longer if he continues to combine defensive duties with a genuine passion for driving into the box.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 7

Slightly subdued performance for its standards, but still lively.

Gave Spurs pause a couple of times and used the speed to spread the back five.
