Man Utd push as Ousmane Dembele ‘rejects new Barcelona contract as TWO Prem clubs contact winger on free transfer’

OUMANE DEMBELE has turned down a new contract at Barcelona after an angry meeting with the club’s bosses – when TWO Premier League clubs contacted the winger on a free transfer.

The French winger, 24, is said to have agreed personal terms last week and told Xavi and Co he wanted to stay.

Dembele has long been tipped to leave the Nou Camp as injuries continue to hamper his progress following a £138m move from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

But new boss Xavi has repeatedly praised and is said to be fighting to the teeth to keep him.

Last week, reports suggested that Dembele was greedy for a new five-year contract at Barcelona over a LOWER weekly salary.

The cash-strapped club are desperate to cut their sky-high wages, despite spending £55m on Manchester City striker Ferran Torres.

Barca and Dembele are both confident that the deal will be signed by the end of this year.

But after a terrifying encounter, the chasm between the two sides now widens.

And with Dembele out of contract at the end of the season, he and his agents will be able to begin pre-contract negotiations with foreign clubs from SATURDAY.

Dembele and teammates are said to be furious with Barcelona’s direction after seeking to cut his salary, despite spending large sums on Torres.

The winger will now only stay if he is offered the salary he is asking for – and no less than a dime.

It has been confirmed that Dembele has gone against the wishes of his agents by agreeing to a new agreement.

As well as Man Utd, a host of clubs including Newcastle, Tottenham and Liverpool have been contacted for the 27-shirt international.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now been revealed TWO Premier League clubs have approached Dembele and are ready to offer the sky-high salary he is demanding.

Romano tweeted: “Ousmane Dembele has been approached by two Premier League clubs to sign as a free agent, offering a large salary.

“His plan is to stay, but he won’t sign a new contract if Barca don’t offer him the salary he wants – the situation is now ‘really complicated’.”

It is not yet clear which Prem team has contacted Dembele – but Newcastle and Man Utd are looking to strengthen their attack to help them fight at the top of the table.
