Man Utd ‘moves to sign Harry Maguire as replacement with Bruno Fernandes ‘agent leading transfer negotiations’

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly working with Bruno Fernandes’ agent to find a possible replacement for Harry Maguire.

The club captain is well respected at Old Trafford but could leave this summer after falling down the pecking order.

The Red Devils made Maguire the world’s most expensive defender when they swooped for the star in 2019.

But Maguire has struggled to convince some fans since his £80million move from Leicester and has lost his first-team spot this season.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo report that United are taking steps to find a new centre-back – and Maguire’s team-mate Fernandes could play a role.

The midfielder shares an agent with United target Goncalo Inacio which could be crucial in the negotiations.

The report claims United have been in touch with agent Miguel Pinho to find out if a transfer can go through.

Inacio has played for Sporting Lisbon since 2020 after emerging from youth academy.

He has impressed since claiming a first-team link with Man United last summer.

The 21-year-old has made 29 appearances this season for a Sporting side fourth in the Portuguese league.

Ignacio also played both games against Arsenal in the Europa League, scoring in the first leg before his side amazed the Londoners at the Emirates.

United have previously had great success with the Sporting Lisbon buyout as both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani previously arrived from Jose Alvalade Stadium.

In addition to a new defender, the Red Devils are also betting on a new striker and possibly a new goalkeeper.
