Man Utd line up transfer offer for Leeds keeper Illan Meslier with David De Gea yet to agree new contract

MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to pay £250,000-a-week to keep David de Gea at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will be looking to persuade Spain No.1 De Gea, 32, to extend his stay and are working on a compromise figure.

They’re willing to keep his salary high – but not at £375,000 a week right now.

United also want to field the goalkeeper who will eventually take over.

Dean Henderson is returning from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the summer but is set to be sold in order to receive desired first-team action.

United are willing to wait until there is a starting place for Meslier.

The complication will be when Leeds go under and Meslier is sold.

United would then have to act quickly to stop him going elsewhere.

Leeds fell into the last three with a 1-0 away defeat at Everton on Saturday.

Meslier was caught flat-footed by Seamus Coleman from a tight angle.

The Frenchman could only watch as the shot nestled into the corner of the net at the back post.
